FAQ

SIZING

Please, please don't. Rings are considered custom orders and non-returnable. Some rings can be resized for a fee, some cannot. If you are unsure of your ring size please order one of our reusable ring sizers or, visit a jewelry store and ask them to size you. There are online printable sizing tools available but they are not accurate and we DO NOT recommend them.

METALS AND DESIGNING

I use quality metals in all of my designs, such as sterling silver, 14k gold plate, 14k gold fill, 14k and 18k solid gold, and yellow Bronze.  We will always note in a listing what the metals are in a piece because we want you to know exactly what you are purchasing.

About the metals we use.

Sterling Silver:  All our sterling is a fine silver copper alloy. We use as much recycled silver in our pieces as possible to reduce the impact of mining on our environment.

14k or 18k gold plate:  Gold Plating is the process of bonding a thin layer of gold to the surface of either brass or sterling silver.  We will always note what the metal underneath the plating is.

14k gold fill: Gold filled wire and sheet are not plated. It is a tube or layer of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded by pressure and heat to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin

Bronze: we use a copper and tin alloy for our Bronze casting.  It is nickel and lead free and made using recycled metals.

Allergies vary per person, but all my metal is lead and nickel free.

I use many techniques from piercing and sawing sheet metal or sculpting from wax and casting in metal.

I have always been a hands-on designer. I love the tactile nature of stones and metals. Sculpting with wax or Precious Metal Clay is my favorite method of creating. I rarely draw a design out ahead of time and like to move the stones and other design elements around until they fit just right together, like piecing together a puzzle.

Art is usually an extension of the creator. My pieces are made from or made to represent love. Love of your significant other, your children, your friends, Yourself, and this wonderful world we inhabit.

I want people to feel loved, to feel important and appreciated. I want them to know there is beauty and kindness in the world.

It's all about the details. I love to create pieces that go beyond the meaning they represent by adding little subtle details that will surprise and delight the wearer, from little hidden hearts or stones set into the back of pieces or the inside of a ring band, to intricately designed patterns sawn or carved into the backside of a necklace. Like a little secret only the wearer knows about until she shares it with others.

JEWELRY CARE

Sterling will naturally tarnish over time.  The way it wears, and ages over time is part of sterling's beauty. The good news is, it is easy to polish. Oxidized silver will need less polishing, since it is tarnished on purpose.  We do not recommend using silver dip cleaner as it will remove the darkened letters or intentional oxidation on your piece. We include a little white polish pad in all our packages to help you keep your silver clean and polished.

Gold fill is a wonderful alternative to gold.  It should not tarnish.

Bronze will oxidize over time.  Simply use the white polish pad included in your package to restore the beautiful golden lister to your bronze pieces. Another note about bronze; it reacts to the chemistry of your skin. For some it can leave a green mark behind. This is a reaction of the oxidizing of the copper on your skin. Everyone's skin is different, but it is harmless and washes right off.  We are happy to add a thin coating of museum wax to your bronze pieces to slow the oxidation process and prevent it from reacting with your skin. Simply ask us!

Commercial jewelry cleaners can harm soft gems like pearls and turquoise.

If you wouldn't put it on your skin you shouldn't put it on your jewelry. Avoid chemicals like household cleaners and liquid jewelry cleaners.

All you need is a great polishing cloth. You can also clean your stones with a soft toothbrush and water & a drop of dawn soap, then rinse under the faucet and dry with a soft cloth. Don't forget to plug the drain first so you don’t drop your jewelry down the drain!

Please don't wear your jewelry in the pool or hot tub, as the chemicals will oxidize your metals. Try not to sleep, garden or work out in them either. Avoid letting pets & children play with your jewels.

Store your jewelry in a dry place. Moisture leads to tarnish, the bathroom is not a great place to store your jewels.
